Build 05: The 1970 Travelall 1000D "Woody" Edition

The 1970 Travelall 1000D "Woody" Edition

This 1970 International Harvester Travelall 1000D is a two-wheel-drive example that was acquired by the current owner in 2022 and subsequently underwent a comprehensive modernization and refurbishment. The project was designed to preserve the iconic “Woody” wagon aesthetic while integrating the reliability and comfort of a 21st-century cruiser.

The Transformation

The exterior bodywork was refinished in a crisp, classic white, accented by custom faux wood graphics that pay homage to the golden era of the American estate wagon. To give it a more commanding stance and modern road feel, we fitted the truck with 20″ U.S. Wheel Corp. wheels and a completely redesigned suspension system.

Performance & Engineering

Under the hood, the heavy-hitting 392ci V8 was upgraded for the modern road. We installed a FiTech fuel injection system to ensure turn-key reliability and consistent performance in all conditions. The engine is paired with a smooth-shifting automatic transmission, and the entire breathing system was overhauled with a custom-fabricated exhaust.

Cabin & Comfort

The interior was reimagined as a luxury space for long-haul travel. The cabin was completely reupholstered, blending vintage textures with modern durability. To ensure the Travelall is a true four-season vehicle, we integrated a Vintage Air Gen IV Magnum climate control system, providing high-output heating and cooling far superior to the original factory specs.
